Creating an ad account

Wire a Google Ads or Meta advertising account into the active organization so Level can pull its campaign performance.

Adding an ad account is the step that actually starts the data flowing. The form is short — three required pieces — but each one has a few details worth knowing.

Before you start

You need:

  1. The right organization selected in the organization switcher.
  2. At least one connected account (Google Ads or Meta) authorized — see Connected accounts if you haven't done that yet.
  3. Room under your plan's limit — each organization can hold 2 ad accounts on Free, 5 on Pro, and 25 on Business and Enterprise. Over the limit you'll see "This organization's plan allows up to N ad account(s). Upgrade to connect more." See Plans & limits.

Open the form

On the active organization's ad accounts page, click Add. The ad account form opens.

Fields

Name (required)

A human-readable label for this ad account. Conventional patterns:

  • Acme · Google Search
  • Acme · Meta Reels
  • Acme · Performance Max

The name shows up in the ad accounts list, in the report drawer when you pick ad accounts for a report, and inside reports themselves. It's editable later.

Platform (required)

Pick Meta or Google Ads from the dropdown:

  • Meta — Facebook, Instagram, Messenger.
  • Google Ads — Search, Display, YouTube.

After you select the platform, Level filters the next two dropdowns to accounts of the matching kind.

Connected account (required)

The sign-in Level uses to read this advertising account. The dropdown lists every connected account of the chosen platform — typically your own Google or Facebook login, but it could be a teammate's.

If the right login isn't in the list, jump to Connected accounts and add it, then come back here.

Advertising account (required)

The actual advertising account inside the chosen connected account. The dropdown lists every account that login can read — for a Google MCC manager account this can be dozens.

Each entry shows:

  • Name — the account name on the platform.
  • External ID — the Google Ads customer ID or Meta act_… ID.
  • Currency — what Meta/Google reports for the account.

A Refresh button next to the dropdown re-pulls the list straight from the platform — useful if a new account was just granted to your login and you don't want to leave the form to refresh on the connected-accounts page.

Submit

Click Save. Level creates the ad account and:

  1. The new card appears in the ad accounts list.
  2. The status flips to Initial load scheduled and then Initial load in progress.
  3. Progress updates live on the card — no reloading needed.

The initial load pulls recent data and usually takes a few minutes; deeper history loads in the background afterwards, with progress shown as Loading history… {n}/{m} months loaded. You can keep using the rest of the app while it finishes.

What you can change later

Once an ad account exists, only the name is editable. The platform, the connected account, and the advertising account are locked — they define the data identity of the ad account. To wire a different advertising account into the organization, create a new ad account and delete the old one.

See Managing ad accounts for edits, syncing controls, and deletion.
